Picket hobbles are great for keeping your horse close and fed. Picket hobbles need to have a swivel. Be sure to picket on a foot rather than the halter. Train your horses to picket first and always walk them out to the end of the picket line. Use thick, soft rope for your picket line or poly hose over the rope for the ten or so feet near the horse, or heavy chain. Do not leave a picketed horse unattended for long periods. Use clear picket areas and move the horse often.
